How We Do It

The research collaboration Mercury Technologies facilitates assists both the building and absorptive capacity of the client and research providers as well as increasing the efficiency and profitability of the client’s operations.  In these collaborations, there are several ways Mercury Technologies engages the provider depending on the preferences of the client.

While there may be advantages to forming partnerships in the geographic area where a company maintains its headquarters, there are increased opportunities and incentives to form research partnerships with both high-quality Australian universities and other global institutions with whom Mercury Technologies maintains formal agreements.  We recommend to the client the best placed person or institution to undertake the work.

We facilitate collaboration through a number of formal programs, including: the CRC Program; the Industry Cooperative Innovation Program; Australian Research Council (ARC) programs such as the Centres of Excellence, the Research Networks and the ARC Linkage Grants; and many State and Territory Government programs.  Globally, we normally engage tertiary institutions using the official funding programs used in that country.  Alternatively, we also directly engage industry experts who consult in the field on both short and long term contracts.
