Market Outlook

The changing global information technology R&D ecosystem has provided new challenges and opportunities for corporate R&D programs, including their ability to solve complex technological projects. The scale and scope of R&D activities are becoming more global, and over two-thirds of companies worldwide currently distribute at least some of their R&D to other countries. These trends in globalization have been accompanied by significant reductions in prestigious industry R&D facilities.
In today’s competitive global marketplace, many companies have reached the conclusion they can no longer maintain the significant capital investment required to build and operate laboratory facilities. Mercury Technologies has recognised as a result, these companies conduct less research and focus primarily on development and the identification of incremental changes to existing products. Currently, this lost industrial research capacity has not been recreated internally, and many companies are looking externally to find a more cost effective solution on a smaller scale through building relationships with industry experts.
